Transitioning to a Circular Fashion Industry: Challenges and Opportunities.

Welcome to this workshop, which aims to inspire and encourage you to become a part of the circular fashion industry.
The goal is to move away from a wasteful system and towards a circular one, using our knowledge of design and science to reframe the value of fashion.
Transitioning to a circular economy is more than just a shift in materials or technologies.
It's a shift in values. By focusing on value, we change the way we view circularity and create a system where social and environmental value are included in the equation.
We invite you to reflect on your own values and explore how you can contribute to the transition towards a circular fashion industry.

CONTENUTI:

Rethinking the Fashion Industry for a Sustainable Future
It's essential to study sustainability and the textile industry because it's a global business with a significant environmental impact.
For instance, textile industry accounts for 20% of industrial water pollution, and the dying and treatment processes in the textile industry contribute to this pollution.
Additionally, the textile industry uses a tremendous amount of non-renewable resources, such as oil to produce synthetic fibers, fertilizers to grow cotton, and chemicals to produce dye and finish textiles.
In conclusion, there is a crucial need to transition to a circular fashion industry, and we encourage you to take part in this change. Let's work together to create a system that values social and environmental aspects, as well as financial indicators.

The fashion industry is facing serious sustainability concerns as commons become a growing waste issue. To address this, a circular economy approach must be taken and the fashion system must be redesigned. This involves closing material loops and exploring alternative methods of producing fashion. One possible solution is to extend the use time of commons by promoting different business models and services that support local shops. It's important to view materials and products as valuable resources, keeping them in the material flow and recycling them for industrial production.
To move away from linear thinking and one-time sales, new business models such as leasing, renting, or repairing commons must be adopted. All stakeholders must be included in this sustainable vision. Achieving this transformation requires creative collaboration and building new networks that challenge traditional business practices. The possibilities for innovation are endless.
